Environmental Sustainability
As a small, female-led horticultural business, sustainability is at the heart of everything I do. Having studied Biology at university I have a profound understanding of the unsustainable practices in horticulture and the importance of preserving nature. Which is why i have such strong drive to ensure every aspect of my business is as environmentally-friendly and sustainable as I can manage.
Plant Sourcing
A selection of plants including Terrarium varieties, Epipremnums, Monsteras, and succulents are grown in-house in Cumbria, using low-impact methods.
UK-based plant suppliers, prioritising small, family-run businesses where possible.
Imports are only made when absolutely necessary, and always from businesses with shared environmental-conscious standards.
Growing Media
Exclusively use peat-free potting mixes, made in-house.
Ingredients sourced from British suppliers where possible and always from businesses with sustainable practices in place.
In process of getting validated certification for my own potting mix made in-house.
Packaging
Paper, Card and cardboard packaging is made from recycled paper, sourced from a local provider.
Plastic packaging is recycled and recyclable (LDPE Type 4).
Encourage reusability and recycling when re-use is no longer possible.
Fertilisation
High-quality seaweed extract is used as a natural and sustainable fertiliser.
This supports plant health without adverse effects to soils microenvironment or surrounding environment.
Pest Management
Predatory insects are used to manage pest outbreaks naturally, safely within growing facilities.
Where necessary, natural plant oil-based pesticides are used.
